Green leather can fade, darken, or get blotchy if it’s scrubbed too hard or soaked. The safest approach is gentle, low-moisture cleaning followed by light conditioning, with every product spot-tested first.
Remove the laces and brush the shoes with a dry, soft brush to lift loose dust. If the 530 has mesh sections, keep your cleaning solution off the mesh as much as possible so dirty runoff doesn’t wick into the green leather and stain it.
Mix a few drops of gentle dish soap into a bowl of lukewarm water. Dampen (don’t soak) a microfiber cloth, wring it out well, and wipe the leather in small sections. Avoid “all-purpose” cleaners, alcohol wipes, bleach, or heavy degreasers—they can pull color from green leather or leave a dull, gray cast.
For light scuffs, use a clean, slightly damp cloth and very light pressure. If a mark won’t budge, stop and switch to a leather-safe cleaner used sparingly. Aggressive rubbing is one of the quickest ways to create lighter patches on colored leather.
Use a second cloth dampened with plain water (again, wrung out) to remove soap residue. Leftover soap can dry the leather and make the color look uneven.
Pat dry with a towel, then let the sneakers air-dry at room temperature—no hair dryer, no radiator, no direct sun. Stuff the toes with paper to help keep shape and speed drying without heat.
Once fully dry, apply a small amount of a colorless leather conditioner to a cloth and spread a thin, even layer. Let it absorb, then buff gently. Over-conditioning can darken green leather, so use less than you think you need and build up only if the leather still feels dry.
A leather-safe protector can help reduce future staining. Spray lightly from a distance, keep coats thin, and let it cure fully before wearing.
